Beaverton’s Saturday Farmers Market is back in full swing. Vada likes to play on the adjacent playground after we stroll the aisles. She was determined to do the monkey bars on her own this Saturday.
We always celebrate Jamie’s birthday with Frosty Paws dog ice cream. She loves it. This year we added a candle and accidentally singed Pup’s whiskers!
This weekend while Vada was absorbed in her morning Wonder Pets episode I absorbed myself in memorizing her. She is such a beautiful little girl now. And I am so glad she made me a mom.
Vada started training for the 2028 Olympics today. She is going to be a gymnast. Based on her first gymnastics lesson I would say that she on track for a gold medal in the vault. I took lots of pictures for NBC to use as b-roll while they talk about the adversity she overcame to get to the olympics instead of live coverage of the marathon.
She was so excited she could barely contain herself when I picked her up at daycare and told her that we had gotten into a lesson. She told everyone she saw on the way out of the building and in the parking lot that she was going to gymnastics. The first thing she said to us when the lesson was over was that the teacher hadn’t let her use all of the equipment.
We just picked the closest facility to our house so I was expecting a couple of mats and older lady telling the kids to do somersaults between smoke breaks. The gym is pretty hardcore. It is the size of two large gymnasiums with a raised viewing platform in the middle. It has several areas for each apparatus and then several foam pits and trampolines. Some of the older kids are the real deal so that was fun to watch.
Vada’s class rotated through several stations where they warmed up with a parachute, then did stretches and then worked on rings and bars, the vault, balance beam, etc. She ended the class jumping off a trampoline into a foam pit. She’s decided that she likes it more than swim lessons and would like to go again.

Vada and I rigged up an indoor hammock for her under the table with a sheet. We both giggled with delight that it worked.
Spring is here and we are having strange weather for Portland – no rain!
Parker came over to play yesterday! The afternoon included lots of giggling, squealing, and spinning.
