Today was the last day in Burt Bruin with Vada’s daycare teachers. The center is closed for a long holiday weekend and then Vada starts in the preschool room on Tuesday. Parker came to the end of year party too!
Toban has a nice microphone set up in his office left over his webinar days. He helped Vada record some tracks this weekend… And she loved it. They did separate tracks for vocal and then she listened through the headphones while she added guitar and percussion tracks.
Vada and I rode the train downtown this afternoon to meet Toban. Vada stopped to frolic in this water fountain and ended up with a wet dress.
Vada has been counting down the days to the annual Nike Family Fun Day… Sunday afternoon she finally got to enjoy the bouncy houses, water pools, smoothies. And the best part is finding her friends from daycare… We spent quite awhile running around with Max and his family.
We spent most of the weekend camping at the North West Mog Fest. It is a yearly gathering for Unimog owners and other 4 wheel drive rigs. We did not take our shiny Sportsmobile into the obstacle course pit but we did drive it down by the river for the afternoon.
This weekend we went to Pickathon – family friendly music festival outside of Portland. We drove the van out and camped in it for the weekend. We knew that Vada was going to like it, but she had an amazing time. So much so that she would go until she dropped. Literally.
There were all sorts of activities for kids ranging from sing-a-longs, concerts, horses and hull a hoops, circus workshops, and on and on. Vada did about everything in between different shows.
Her biggest excitement was dancing to the music and boy did she dance. Vada and Carmen got to do a square dance which Vada loved. She spent a lot of the weekend playing or dancing with another girl she met there. If they weren’t together then Vada was constantly asking where her “new friend Indiana” was. She didn’t want to miss out on any possible fun. When we left she got out a maker and paper and wrote her name on it and then got all of her new friends to write their names on it too so that she wouldn’t forget their names before next year’s Pickathon. Here’s some shots of her in action at the various events.
Other stages were tucked away in the woods and paths around the venue were lit by giant hanging lights.
The Wood stage was created out of tree limbs and you sat on hay bales and listened to the music in the woods. It was easily the coolest concert venue I’ve ever seen.
I took Vada with me to a figure drawing class at work today. She got to use artist chalk and draw a live model.
