This weekend we went to Pickathon – family friendly music festival outside of Portland. We drove the van out and camped in it for the weekend. We knew that Vada was going to like it, but she had an amazing time. So much so that she would go until she dropped. Literally.
There were all sorts of activities for kids ranging from sing-a-longs, concerts, horses and hull a hoops, circus workshops, and on and on. Vada did about everything in between different shows.
Her biggest excitement was dancing to the music and boy did she dance. Vada and Carmen got to do a square dance which Vada loved. She spent a lot of the weekend playing or dancing with another girl she met there. If they weren’t together then Vada was constantly asking where her “new friend Indiana” was. She didn’t want to miss out on any possible fun. When we left she got out a maker and paper and wrote her name on it and then got all of her new friends to write their names on it too so that she wouldn’t forget their names before next year’s Pickathon. Here’s some shots of her in action at the various events.
Other stages were tucked away in the woods and paths around the venue were lit by giant hanging lights.
The Wood stage was created out of tree limbs and you sat on hay bales and listened to the music in the woods. It was easily the coolest concert venue I’ve ever seen.
