Carmen and Vada were both home sick yesterday. Vada has demonstrated that she has some serious chops when it comes to projectile vomiting. Fortunately, I am as strong as an ox and can carry the weight of 12 men so I remained unaffected by whatever they had. Both are feeling better today.
We bought Vada a hands free cup. Ha!
Roomba (blue disk in lower left of photo) was vacuuming in our bedroom so we moved Jamie’s dog beds outside for a few minutes. Even though it was quite chilly Jamie thought she would spend some time lounging on the deck. Toban covered her with a blanket to keep her toasty.
I have a thing for asymmetric clothing. So it was no surprise to Toban when I came home from my work trip with this shirt for Vada. He was just glad there was not a matching one in his size.
I was at the other end of the tunnel with my head propped in my hands. Vada was trying to copy me.
Vada's daycare takes yearly pictures just like school age kids. I think they might even take them twice a year. It's a racket. We do get a good laugh out of them though. First of all, Vada is our baby and look at her sitting there in front of the standard school backdrop just like the big kids! Second her hair is ridiculous – everyone loves it though. And obviously they could not get a smile out of her so she looks a little rough. Although in her defense this was the day after the ER visit where strangers were checking her temperature in the most accurate of places and were pumping liquids into a tube in her head! I could also nit pick about the perspective making her white shoes look giant. But I will continue on to the biggest laugh of all… her fly is unzipped! Oh, Vada. She is the sweetest, most adorable, little mess of a girl. And we love her to death. We are not laughing at you… We are laughing with you V!
Vada’s most used (over used) sign is “all done”. “Eat” is now easily her second most used sign. And although she knows how to communicate this to us, she isn’t always completely accurate on what her body actually needs. For example, on Sunday she frantically signed “eat” to Toban, but when he got her set up in her chair with a snack she fell asleep. Twenty minutes later though she woke up and started eating without even missing a beat.

Vada is in the top right picture of this slide. It really captures her dainty little body. When I first returned home on Tuesday that is what I was struck by most about her. And then I noticed how she is becoming much more outgoing in making her wants knows. At daycare she goes and gets her coat when she wants to go outside. I was distracted with other kids at the daycare one day and she went over and got her coat to let me know it was time to go home. And at home she likes to look in the fridge or cabinets and grunt and point at what she wants to eat. At bedtime she gathers the softest blanket in her room into a ball so she can snuggle into it. She is so sweet.
