We put up a play structure for Vada recently. The swings and monkey bars will have wait until spring when we can relocate some more plants to make room. This weekend I had a load of gravel delivered to put around the area to cut down on the mud factor. I’d be fine to never scoop gravel again in my lifetime.
Vada loves it though and could go down the slide all day long. We are going to spend countless hours out there I can tell already.
Carmen got some large pieces of nylon from work and Vada wanted to use it as a tent. So tonight we stretched it over the top of her crib. Vada emptied her shelf of stuffed animals and moved ALL of them into the tent along with our lantern. We contorted to get in there as well for story time before bed. We’ll see if she makes it until morning.
Today was Vada’s last swim lesson. She likes practicing her reach and pull technique. But mainly she likes playing with toys in the baby (or “tiny” as she calls it) pool.
Our local greyhound group had a Christmas tree fundraiser today so we went and picked out a tree. Vada said that she wanted “a tiny one” so we bought the smallest one they had.
Jamie, of course, got lots of attention and I’m not sure how Vada felt about that. She kept an arm draped around Jamie’s neck most of the time making sure that she was properly claimed.
Vada got her first haircut today. It honestly doesn’t look much different, but it does lay nicer. She wasn’t thrilled with the process but did pretty good at sitting still. We went to the salon where Carmen gets her dreads done so Vada was the only customer there with hair that wasn’t pink, knotted or otherwise designed to embarrass parents.
We went up to Mt.Hood yesterday to play in the snow with Vada. First issue was the gear. Toban and I are well stocked to play in the snow but Vada didn’t have all the necessary clothing. I’m not a big of Black Friday but I was stoked we were able to score a pink pair of snow bibs for Vada for $13 bucks on the drive to the mountain!
We went to a ski resort with a tube sledding area. Here is Vada sitting in the front of the tube with Toban in back ready to take off down the run.Toban said she was quite wide eyed at the bottom of the run. And she didn’t want to go anymore.
So Toban and I switched to a single tube and took turns. This is me at the bottom.
We ended up getting Vada to go down three more times. Twice in my lap.
She had the most fun playing in the snow at the bottom of the sledding area though.
