Recovery

Jamie has been having problems with her “kibbles and bits” for a long time. We’ve tried all sorts of meds, ointments, sprays, etc. The issue is that she had some extra skin back there that caught stuff, she would lick it, it would get irritated, then infected. We’ve been in that cycle for over a year. She was getting really uncomfortable so we finally opted for surgery. It is called an episioplasty. They removed about two inches of skin in a crescent shape giving her *ahem* the equivalent of a face lift.

Now we have to keep her from bothering it for two weeks. She went completely insane at the Dr when they put a satellite dish collar on her. So we are resorting to keeping her rump covered in dog diapers – yes they do exist. We have to ice her down a few times a day. She is pretty bruised and raw back there, but five years younger! I think that it will fix the problem. The next few weeks are just going to be a bit rough.
