Vada and I flew to Denver to meet up with family for Easter weekend. Vada immediately fell in love with Zoey and wanted to be with her everywhere. We were in separate vehicles traveling places due to the car seat arrangement and Vada would ask for Zoey about every minute in a sad sweet (OK at times maybe whiney) voice.
Making faces in the mirror before swimming at the hotel.
Vada only wanted Grandma to hold her…
… Until she learned that Emily and Kelly could toss her much higher in the air.
It was sunny and clear for the Easter egg hunt but the wind was incredibly cold. Vada had said she thought she could five eggs and she easily got that with the help of Grandpa’s downfield blocking.
And just like that Vada announced she was done and cold.
Zoey was cold and wanted to be in the blanket but seemed totally grossed out by Vada’s bloody runny nose.
Inspecting the loot and negotiating trades.
Vada was sweet on the flight home. She kept saying she wanted to share her eggs with Dada. But she kept wanting to eat the chocolate eggs too. Each time she would ask for an egg we would have to do a count and make sure there were some left for Dada. We made it home with three.
Vada took more than her fair share of turns on Zoey’s microphone.
We scheduled a photo shoot for the three cousins. Zoey can turn on her smile like a pageant beauty. Cooper is cooperative but would probably rather be doing something else. Vada didn’t want to smile and then wouldn’t even sit up on the photo platform and instead rolled around the floor.
Then she figured out she could really control the situation by turning around backwards every time we said smile.
Here is what Vada and Zoey wanted to do as soon as we freed them from the picture studio. Grandpa gave them each two quarters. Zoey put her’s in right away and Tigger bounced and sang. Then I told Vada it was her turn to put her quarters in.
But no, Vada was not going to put her quarters in so Zoey had to pretend to make Tigger drive while Vada held tightly to her quarters.
Blowing colored bubbles in their spring colored photo shoot shirts.
Here is a closer look at the colored bubbles. Kind of slimy stuff. Definitely makes it clear what kid doesn’t have the hang of keeping their mouth of the bubble stick because Vada had pink and purple all around her lips.
Attempting a quick photo of the grandparents and grandkids. I have no clue why Zoey is holding up a rock but believe me this is the best shot out of ten that I took.
Zoey and Vada baking cookies. Zoey decided they needed a snack while they were baking even though the only “baking” involved here was taking the dough out of the package and putting it on the cookie sheet.
Bad quality picture but cute high five after they finished with the cookies.
Playing on Zoey’s balance beam. Man that girl is photogenic.
Vada traded Zoey a Dora doll for a KU Jayhawk to cuddle with on the way to the airport.
