We’ve had a rough couple of days… Vada hasn’t been taking a bottle from me since Carmen left and hasn’t been taking many other fluids at daycare. On top of that she got some diarrhea and she had more fluids going out than coming in. I gave the doctor the rundown on her fluid intake this morning and she sent us straight to the ER. They tried to take blood and give her an IV in her hand, but she was too dehydrated to find a vein. So I left the room, four nurses came in and they put it in her forehead. We’ve gotten some meds and an IV and watched Lady and the Tramp. Vada got in a good rest and has been walking the halls making friends. We are just waiting to get discharged now.

Oh no! Poor Vada (And Daddy)! Have you had any luck with an actual cup (sippy or otherwise) instead of bottle?
Some more suggestions. How about watery foods? Watermelon. Grapes. Jello. Popsicles. Maybe ice chips. Flavored drink (like pedialyte or choc milk or even some kind of watered down juice or lemonade)?
The hydration angle is covered in spades, believe me. The primary issue is really the diarrhea. Once that is solved we’re in the clear.
Poor Vada! The little tear running down her cheek is so sad! As a mama, I’m sure this is almost more stressful for Carmen. Hope the days go quick until you are all together again.
Hope she is feeling better. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help while Carmen is gone.
