Oceanside
We are spending part of this week in Oceanside, Oregon with my mom who is visiting. We rented a house near the ocean and have been trying our hardest to do nothing. So far we’ve been successful. Fortunately the place we are staying has made that exceedingly easy.
Oceanside is about an hour and a half from Portland and has a large number of houses perched on cliffs around the main attraction: Three Arch Rock nature preserve. There are large populations of birds that live in the cliffs, sea lions and seals, and eagles in the area. So far we’ve largely missed the sea mammals, but have gotten to see several eagles including a spectacular bald eagle hunting from a rock off the cliffs.
